The Argies are Back
I see that’s Argentina asking about the Falkland Islands again. One reason that is happening, we are seen as a soft touch in the world. Thanks to our ‘open the doors’ regime the whole world wants a bit of the action now.
Chat from Gordon about Catholic monarchs is precisely what I’m talking about. Why don’t you toss the keys in at the vatican on your next visit you bumbling idiot. Why stop at Catholics anyway? Why not Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs? Oh right, you can’t talk about that.
It’s not that I’ve got it in for any one particular religion, I’ve got it in for them all. So instead of trying to change the constitution to involve more religions, we should be moving away for any religious persuasion ruling the country if anything. I’m also 100% against hierarchical religions being allowed near the throne of this country when the top of that food chain isn’t the same person sitting in the throne and residing in this country. At least the Queen is head of the Church of England, she answers to no-one. That’s what you need from a “Head of State” otherwise it is pointless. For the record, I’m all for the disbanding of the Church of England aswell.
As for the Argies, instead of politely saying no, how about we tell them to spin on it. If they’ve got anything else to say about it, lets dust off HMS Invincible (currently sitting in a docks, doing nothing) and start doing laps of the Falkland Islands with it.
I think another war where someone is invading us is what this country needs to focus and unify itself…..just preferably not near my house, and if I could live through it that would be another bonus. Ah screw it, pass me some boots and a rifle, I’m ready.

The muslims?? A fatwah on your head sir, this country would move ahead by leaps and bounds if governed by sharia law! Id also be free to rape as many women as i wanted aslong as only 3 men witnessed the act
March 30th, 2009 at 8:21 am
The queen is the biggest bumbling fool out of them all. Her and that crazy family need shot. Good pure catholic values is what we need with the country in the state it is in. Plus what Iq said, that sharia law nonsense, sounds ahead of its time!!!
A fight with the argies sounds like good craic an all, if just so I hear less of crunching and credits.

Stu – you volunteering for some battles? Good on you.
As for religion – get rid of it all. It has no purpose in this world.
And as for Stealth’s pure good catholic values – does he not recall the furore surrounding catholic priests and their indiscretions with young boys – and the fact that the vatican then covered it up. And that the vatican’s form of punishment was to move said priests around to new flocks with yet more children to abuse? Good catholic values indeed – a world full of child abuse and the punishment when caught is to move to a new house! And I haven’t even mentioned the pope’s latest gem of papal wisdomery straight from the mouth of “god” – telling all the catholics in African countires to stop wearing condoms – even though AIDS and HIV are rife in said countries! Yup – these good catholic values – definitely the way forward.

@Del
I do despair, more often than not with some of the comments, drivel if you like that permeates into the public domain from your mouth.
Just because you choose not to believe in any kind of greater good and have turned to atheism after your parents tried to bring you up with a proper grounded childhood, this does not then mean we should just “get rid of it all”.
Lets start with the first issue, that is right Del, in the old testament, Isaiah, chapter 2, verses 4-6 it goes into great detail about fiddling with kids. I always forget about that one. You are confusing catholic values, well you are not confusing anything, you are just using stories and headlines to further your agenda and new satan worshipping lifestyle. No wonder you have started going to the solid rock café on Saturday nights with the hordes of cemetery sexual deviants.
As for not using condoms, well whether AIDS and HIV are rife is irrelevant when the issue is being looked at from above. The use of condoms is where the issue lies ignoring everything else.
March 31st, 2009 at 7:11 pm
Im with Del on his all religion is nuts! (as is the existence of God…unless he did indeed to take on the form of Mike Patton). Doesnt every religion have some pretty retarded logic that doesnt apply to anybody these days? And stealth! being an atheist means you cant have a proper grounded childhood? Im sure all the church going buckfast swilling street corner neds are well grounded! Dels comment on condoms is sensible/reasonable logic, yours unfortunately is based upon a fairly lengthy and not too interesting book of fiction.
I also resent the solid rock dig you cock, since i frequent that place now and again!

@Iq
Well Iq, to say that you are a church goer does not in any way give you a proper childhood grounding. It can however help. Like many who do not go to church who will also lead their lives in what we deem to be responsible and sharing way. What I put forward in rather clear terms was that religion provides a moral compass from which to lead your life, a set of values that allow you set goals in your life not just in a selfish capitalist pursuit based on immoral virtues. Clearly people can twist these things for there own agenda just as Del twists sensational headlines to further his. I do not force the word of God onto anyone, I merely believe that if you choose to lead a life in this way then you should not be discriminated against in everyday life.
I will open it up and give you the basic premise of a religion I am less familiar with. Islam and its “ten commandments” state –
1. “There is no other god beside God.”(Qur’an 47:19)
2. “My Lord, make this a peaceful land, and protect me and my children from worshiping idols.” (Qur’an 14:35)
3. “Do not subject God’s name to your casual swearing, that you may appear righteous, pious, or to get credibility among the people.” (Qur’an 2:224)
4. “O you who believe, when the Congregational Prayer (Salat Al-Jumu`ah) is announced on Friday, you shall hasten to the commemoration of GOD, and drop all business.” (Qur’an 62:9)[7]
5. “….and your parents shall be honored. As long as one or both of them live, you shall never say to them, “Uff” (the slightest gesture of annoyance), nor shall you shout at them; you shall treat them amicably.” (Qur’an 17:23)
6. “….anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people.” (5:32)
7. “You shall not commit adultery; it is a gross sin, and an evil behavior.” (Qur’an 17:32)
8. “The thief, male or female, you shall mark their hands as a punishment for their crime, and to serve as an example from God. God is Almighty, Most Wise.” (Qur’an 5:38)
9. “Do not withhold any testimony by concealing what you had witnessed. Anyone who withholds a testimony is sinful at heart.” (Qur’an 2:283)
10. “And do not want what we bestowed upon any other people. Such are temporary ornaments of this life, whereby we put them to the test. What your Lord provides for you is far better, and everlasting.” (Qur’an 20:131)
If all were to follow in these simple terms would the world not be a better place. Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me, and the entire human race, there are people dying, if you care enough, for the living, make a better place, for you and for me.
Solid Rock, take del with you then. Gie me some peace!! Unless they have changed it from the last time I was in, when there was sweat dripping from the ceiling and I had to ask if we were getting any nibbles later because I thought I had walked into a post funeral celebration of a recently deceased member of the SR crew.

@Stealth Assassin
I find your remark about capitalism astounding. This is an age old argument you have given us on a number of occasions. An arguement from the mouth of the founder of “VKR Enterprise” amongst other schemes. Are we to believe you were going to give all your profits back to society…..”gie me some peace”, are the words I think you are looking for.
As for your moral compass idea. If we lived by the letter of some of these religions the world would be in a far worse state. Muslim extremism is a great example actually, a great example of moral compasses. None of these, as far as I know, have clear 21st century definitions of how to live your live, therefore they are subjective to interpretation, which is the root of the problem. If you read the bible its one of the most discriminatory and hatred filled pieces of literature amongst all of the holy books, yet I’m supposed to conduct myself by it? Free your mind, Stealth.
I grant you the right to respond obviously but I don’t really want to go over this religion thing again. I’ve said my piece on here on a few occasions.
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:40 am
@stu
We can have this discussion a million times but we will go over the same points. As for profits, I believe the disparity between what your five percent top earners and those below is, for want of a better word, appalling. Everyone knows my socialist leanings which although is flawed as an ideology holds many good values and redresses the greed and destructive nature of capitalism.
Like I have said before, you can take any religious book and put your spin on it to cause untold damage and chaos. Clearly society has moved on and a literal translation cannot hold true but the underlying stance it takes remains correct and if you can prove otherwise then please do so. The discriminatory and hatred you speak of is what you look for and seek so that is understandable that is what you take from it.
Lets put this issue to bed now.
Finally, we’ll be coming, we’ll be coming…………
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:15 pm
I think hypocrite comes to mind when Stealth mentions Capatilism considereing he works for one of the largest Investment Banking firms in the world!
As for your 10 commandments above and living by them – well lets see what these mean in plain English:
1. There is no other God except God – what the f*ck does that mean – nothing. Therefore by following this commandment you achieve nothing.
2. “My Lord, make this a peaceful land, and protect me and my children from worshiping idols.” This says do not worship idols – but is that not what a God is – and idol? So this Commandment says don’t worship God!
3. “Do not subject God’s name to your casual swearing, that you may appear righteous, pious, or to get credibility among the people.” Basically don’t swear using God’s name to make you look cool – yup that’s gonna make the world a whole lot better.
4. “O you who believe, when the Congregational Prayer (Salat Al-Jumu`ah) is announced on Friday, you shall hasten to the commemoration of GOD, and drop all business.” Basically if you believe in God, on a friday at a certain time stop what your doing immediately to pray – the worlds getting better already.
5. “….and your parents shall be honored. As long as one or both of them live, you shall never say to them, “Uff” (the slightest gesture of annoyance), nor shall you shout at them; you shall treat them amicably.” If your parents are alive treat your parents with respect – that’s just common sense but hey if religion says so it means religion thought of it first. Mind you I have heard the way Stealth talks to his mother, he should really practice what he preaches.
Five Commandments down and I am already feeling safer.
6. “….anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people.” Do not commit murder – again more common sense – but alas according to this commandment it is okay to kill someone if they have killed someone first or have committed horrendous crimes. So basically this commandment instructs you to be a vigilante – I shall look out my sword tonight and get on the case.
7. “You shall not commit adultery; it is a gross sin, and an evil behavior.” – Do not cheat on your wife or husband, but hold on – in some religions you can marry more than once – how does that work? But I don’t really see the abolition of adultury making me any safer, but hey if my ex-wife had followed this commandment I may still have been married. But blessed was the day that she committed this henious sin and I have been better off ever since.
8. “The thief, male or female, you shall mark their hands as a punishment for their crime, and to serve as an example from God. God is Almighty, Most Wise.” Do not steal – again common sense but hey if you get caught we will chop off your hands.
9. “Do not withhold any testimony by concealing what you had witnessed. Anyone who withholds a testimony is sinful at heart.” So if your witness a crime you should speak up – again more common sense but hey religion has spoken and it is the word of the almighty.
10. “And do not want what we bestowed upon any other people. Such are temporary ornaments of this life, whereby we put them to the test. What your Lord provides for you is far better, and everlasting.” This is the cracker – it basically says don’t want more that what you are given by God – but hold on what does he give? If we where to live this way we would all have caves and could only eat stuff that fell in our laps. In life you have to work to achieve (well most people do) but hey lets all live in caves and wait for our next meal to walk in the entrance and drop dead at our feet. So Stealth the next time you want a new jacket or a new pair of jeans just you remember this commandment and think to yourself “am I committing a sin by wanting this jacket? Do I really need it? Will it fulfill my life? What would God do in this situation?”

I do not work for an investment bank so given the level of factual inaccuracy I have decided to stop reading at this point due to more lies that you may bestow on my tired eyes.
April 3rd, 2009 at 8:25 am
@Stealth Assassin
Its diversified investing, of which some of it is investment banking, a large slice of it.
April 3rd, 2009 at 8:42 am
The financial reporting requirements and regulations are distinctly different between that of an investment bank and other types. The financial calendars are not even the same. The upshot being that the information is unreliable from certain sources. In effect it is like calling Barclays an investment bank because they have an investment arm.
April 3rd, 2009 at 9:15 am
@Stealth Assassin
True but that aside, Del’s arguement still holds up
April 3rd, 2009 at 9:42 am
I am only going to start with his first three points because going through the rest of his nonsensical arguments is a just a general waste of time.
1) Others may try to claim to have God like standing and imitate the creator of all however do not be fooled by this.
2) Links in to the first one. Del, look up the word idol, that would probably help. I will give you a clue, you can find words and meanings in a thing called the dictionary.
3) The commandments are not set around making the world a whole lot better in an absolute direct fashion. I would hazard a guess that this one is linked to respect.
These are also only translations, del’s blind reading of it seems to be directly linked to the roid rage he suffers from these days.
April 3rd, 2009 at 5:39 pm
Sorry vik but your argument is failing yet again. Living your life by religous guidelines implies people are generally bad unless given guidance by some mystical higher being. And for all of your quotes, im sure if i looked hard enough/could be bothered i could find plenty of examples of extremely questionable practise/teachings in all holy books!
Oh, and quoting michael jackson.. for shame vik, for shame! Last week i wouldve heaped praise for one using Jacksons words to make a point, but ever since he jumped on the jade goody bandwagon ive lost all respect
April 6th, 2009 at 8:11 am
Nonsense, I have never said that we must all follow religion to become good people. I believe that in the beginning we were all inherently good but over time more and more evil has spread across the world. This then leads into a whole nature versus nurture discussion. Religion just allows us, if we choose to follow that path, a moral code from which to guide us in the darkness.
I am sure you could find many questionable practices but lets be honest, it was written a while ago!!
I do not really know all about the Jade/Jackson thing as I tend to stay away from any kind of news related to her. What I will say is that I like to remember Jackson from his thriller days, after that is erased quickly from the memory!!
April 6th, 2009 at 8:19 am
Id love to see some examples of this moral code which can guide us in the darkness… I take it you dont believe in evolution either and believe everything thats written in the bible? Incidentally, im not having a go at you for being religous, its just interesting thats all!
I saw a news item the other day, right after jacko announced his gigs saying that he’d been in contact with jade and wanted to help or something. Attention seeking kiddy fiddler
April 6th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
It is just simple ways to live your life such as do not steal. Not really earth shattering stuff but all I am saying is that for those who choose to believe then they should be allowed to do so. Everyone that knows me, is aware that I am not overly religious, I go to church every so often, I pray ever so often and like to lead a clean wholesome life. Religion can help direct the wayward, that is all I am saying.
You would think he would pick somebody a bit more “hip” to get some publicity. Did all his shows not sell out anyway. I dont believe he touched any of those kinds in an inappropriate manner
April 6th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
@Stealth Assassin
Nicely glossed over the evolution thing their.
